She Brews Beer – All Welcome

30+ women at GCB for the She Drinks Beer open brewday

Read about our first anniversary brew-day, in October 2022, here. And check out our She Drinks Beer page for dates and other details here.

As we headed into Autumn, and towards the second anniversary of our She Drinks Beer initiative, we were once again delighted to welcome women from across Bristol to our brewery in awesome East Bristol to get involved in a brew-day.

She Drinks Beer is our regular evening at the pub for women who enjoy beer, aiming to disrupt the traditionally male pub space (everyone is always welcome at SDB, we are inclusive of all including non-binary, transgender, gender non-conforming). Over the two years since I (Kelly) started it we’ve run it one Tuesday every month at our award-winning Redland pub, The Good Measure. Last summer we put on ‘taproom editions’ of SDB one Friday a month. We also ran a special extra one at the end of May this year at our new city centre pub the Kings Head, as part of ‘Women On Tap’ Festival. From October 2023 we will be alternating months between The Good Measure (BS6 6PE) and the Kings Head (BS1 6DE) – keep an eye on social media or our website page for where to find us (November at The Good Measure, December at the Kings Head for the last two months of this year).

To celebrate our second anniversary we wanted to give local women, and particularly those working in the beer and hospitality industries but perhaps without easy access to the brewing process, another chance to experience what happens in a brewery on a brew-day. The limited-edition special they all helped brew, All Welcome, is a light, hoppy 4.4% pale ale, designed to be accessible and enjoyable, like the SDB event itself. US and NZ hops combine lime, grapefruit and tropical fruit flavours and aromas.

All Welcome will be launched at November’s She Drinks Beer at The Good Measure on Tues 7th November – we hope to see you then! You’re welcome to come to SDB with friends or a partner, or come on your own to meet other women who enjoy beer, or come on your own and stay on your own – it’s entirely up to you, and you’re welcome regardless. If you’re not sure it’s for you, do please pop along anyway and see for yourself – we’re a friendly bunch!

The beer will then be available across Bristol, including at some of the city’s best women-led pubs, bars and shops, as well as on our Webshop here and outside of Bristol at select venues. Do pick up a can or two if you’re not able to make it along to any of the venues pouring the beer. And of course let us know on social media what you think!
