Disrupting the traditionally male pub space since 2021, She Drinks Beer is our regular night at the pub for women* who enjoy beer.

FOR WOMEN BY WOMEN
'She Drinks Beer' isn't an organisation, it's not political or asking you to join anything. Rather, it’s about getting together in the pub and disrupting that traditionally male space. Because when was the last time you went to the pub and it was predominantly other women?
We’re open, COME ON IN!
'She Drinks Beer' alternates between our award-winning Redland pub The Good Measure and our city centre pub the Kings Head, taking place one Tuesday evening every month. You’re welcome to come with friends, come on your own to meet others, or come on your own and stay on your own – it’s totally up to you and everyone is welcome.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME
To celebrate the anniversary of She Drinks Beer each year we host a brewday with a difference. This special occasion welcomes women to Good Chemistry to come and see how our beers are brewed and get hands-on with the process. The resulting beer – All Welcome – is released at November’s SDB, as well as across Bristol and the rest of the country.
In March 2025 we welcomed women to Good Chemistry for an International Women's Day brewday - this beer launches at April's SDB at The Good Measure - see below for more details!
COME ON IN

TELL ME MORE
Usually the first (or sometimes the second) Tuesday of the month. The first dates for 2025 are 7th January, 4th February, 4th March, 1st April, 6th May, 3rd June, and we’ll add more soon.
Kelly and Lorin are usually there at 6ish but feel free to arrive whenever – the pubs open at 4pm. Laura is usually behind the bar, so do let her know you’ve come for SDB.
Kings Head is on Victoria Street in the city centre, BS1 6DE (January, March)
The Good Measure is on Chandos Road in Redland, BS6 6PE (February, April)
Yes, please do! We know walking into a pub full of strangers can be daunting, so if it helps you pluck up the courage to come along – brilliant! Equally, if you don’t have any beer-drinking women friends or colleagues, we’re a welcoming bunch. And, if you’d like to come with someone who isn’t a ‘she’, everyone is of course always welcome at The Good Measure, the Kings Head and our Taproom. SDB is mostly definitely not ‘ladies night’ or women only. (*we are inclusive of all, including non-binary, transgender and gender non-conforming folk)
No, sorry. But you're welcome to get a delivery or pick up something from the chippie on Chandos Road or anywhere local to the Kings Head.
Sign up to our mailer here or join our facebook group here to get involved in the community – or come along and see for yourself next time!

**The beer we brewed together, UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, a 4.1% fruited pale ale, launches at She Drinks Beer at The Good Measure on Tue 1st April - see you there!**
On Saturday 8th March we at Good Chemistry were joined in awesome East Bristol by more than 40 women from across Bristol and beyond come down to see how our beers are brewed, get hands-on with the process - and also hear from amazing, inspiring women in a range of fields. We ran this event as part of IWCBD - International Women's Collaboration Brew Day - and are raising money for charity while we're at it. More about IWCBD here.
Lining up for the day alongside the brew were:
Dr Amy Burnett talking about and sharing a tasting on how women were the pioneering force in brewing in the 17th century
Spirited owner Katy introducing Women's+ Whisky Night with a tasting
An introduction to CAMRA BAD Ladies (that’s Bristol And District!)
Delicious food from entrepreneurs supported by Ashley Community & Housing (ACH)
The taproom was also open for everyone from 2pm, with Esme Betamax & friends spinning records by women
